JARDÍ BOTÀNIC MARIMURTRA

The Marimurtra Botanical Garden is just 10 minutes by car from the Cavall de Mar campsite. We recommend accessing it with the bus provided by the garden, which stops at Plaça Catalunya or a walk of approximately one hour with views of the town.

Address: Passeig de Cales Faust, 9, 17300, Blanes.

Brief description:

Declared a cultural asset of National Interest by the Government of Catalonia, it was founded more than 80 years ago by the German Carl Faust, an eminence in biological sciences, with the intention of establishing an international headquarters for scientific research in Blanes.

The Marimurtra Garden is located in the same municipality of Blanes and has one of the most impressive views over the Mediterranean Sea. Its name comes from the combination of these two ecosystems (sea and mountains) existing in the Garden itself.

It is located in the mountains, on very steep terrain and part of the garden overlooks the cliff over the Mediterranean, which provides impressive panoramic views over the sea, worth seeing, making it a highly recommended excursion for adults and children.

The garden houses some 4,000 plant species for the purpose of study, teaching and botanical research, which together with its presentation presents added aesthetic and landscape values. There are a total of 5 hectares open to the public, you can admire:

    • Plants from Arid Regions of both South Africa and Central America.
    • Subtropical plants, the well-known palm trees, araucarias, etc.
    • Ponds with collections of aquatic plants.
    • Exotic plants.
    • Medicinal plants.
    • Aromatic plants.
    • A large collection of ferns from our community.
